Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!
Last term, the School Council organised a fundraising event for school equipment. Children were asked to come dressed ready for a day at the beach and as you can see, we had everything from pirates to sharks! We raised £314 and although the sun didn't shine, we had a great time!
Where, how and why do people worship?
Year 3 were asked the question ‘Where, how and Why do People Worship?’ in our RE block this term. To help answer this question, we visited St Mary’s Church, where we searched for common features of Christian places of worship and learned more about their importance. Reverend Liz and Father Michael helped by answering some of our more difficult questions about the church. Back in school, we used the computers to go on a virtual tour of a Synagogue and a Mosque.

Y4 use Sketch Up program to create architectural designs!
This term in ICT, Year 4 were given the challenge of imagining that the nearby allotments had been given to the school and Mrs Bennett wanted them to design ways in which the school could use the land. Using Sketch Up, a program used by real architects, children designed and range of different ideas including new classrooms, sports halls, swimming pools, changing rooms, football pitches and even dormitories for children to stay in! Maybe one day the land will become available and one of the designs used!
Y5 Talent Show is a great success
We were utterly entertained by a wide variety of talent as the Year FIve children performed in 'The Universe has Talent' - a spaced-themed talent show. With dance, song, comedy, stories, home-made videos, and crazy aliens, we were extremely proud of the creativity and confidence of our children. Well done all!

They played incredibly well in the semi final against Grangefield winning 4-0 and progressing to play in the final against Bishops Cleeve! The pressure built for the final between Bishops Cleeve and Prestbury St Marys. It was a tight game with only a few chances for both teams, however Prestbury were able to convert the chances they were given and won the final 2-1. The girls retained the trophy and were crowned champions for another year after winning the same tournament last Spring. Player of the tournament was Leonie Gough, she scored a number of superb individual goals and was also a fantastic team player.

Despite their best efforts they were beaten in a closely fought match but in the resulting 3rd/4th place play-off they won convincingly to take 3rd place. All players played in the right spirit and displayed excellent attitudes and sportsmanship. Most importantly however, all players had a great time!

Year 4 Highlights of Autumn Term 2
As part of our Romans topic, a teacher from Chedworth Roman Villa visited Y4. She taught us how to make a mosaic before we had a go at designing and making our own. No two mosaics were the same - do you have a favourite design? Using Science and Design Technology has inspired our creative writing. We have written instructions on how to light up a Christmas tree and sew our own Christmas stockings. Role play has also helped us to write diary entries as if we were a Roman or Celtic soldier. To prepare for Christmas, we have been designing and sewing Christmas stockings!

In addition to singing at the Town Hall, the choir have been out and about in our local community, entertaining local residents at the library and at Baytree Court Care Home.

To make our learning in RE even more exciting, we were joined by a group of RE specialist trainee teachers from the University of Gloucestershire.
