Eco School
Who we are
The Eco Council is made up of pupils from each year group who have been elected by their class. Mr Munn and Mrs Malloy are the teacher representatives on the council.
What we do
The Eco Council has been formed to help our school, through our core Christian value of respect, to become more environmentally aware and to respond to the ever increasing environmental issues our planet faces.
Awards
We are pleased to announce that last year we achieved the Bronze Eco award for our school in recognition of our continuing work on sustainability. We hope to achieve the Silver award in the coming year.
Our Projects
We have set up a number of initial projects after conducting an informal environmental review of our school. Some of our achievements so far are:
Paper recycling:
We now have paper bins distributed throughout our school, including one in each classroom and the school office. We have estimated that our class and office bins contain 70% less waste!
Composting:
We have installed compost bins and a ‘composting guide’ in each playground.
Milk bottle recycling:
All of our plastic milk bottles are now recycled
Nature area:
We are developing the outdoor area by Y5CT to attract wildlife
